Sound Design Technologies has an on-going commitment to "preservation of the environment" and "safety of its employees". This commitment is fulfilled by developing and maintaining an Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Management system certifiable to the highest international standards and objectively audited by external registrars since 2004. Currently Sound Design Technologies complies with the International Standards Organization ISO 14001:2004 and the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Standard BSI-OHSAS 18001:2007.
This EHS management system ensures that a process in place for continual improvement of EHS performance to reduce impact of our operations, activities, products and services on the environment and to minimize health and safety risks to employees. It also defines authority and responsibility of the management personnel as it pertains to identification and operational control of environmental aspects and H&S hazards and provides procedures for corrective actions necessary to reduce impact to the environment and risk to employees.
Our continuous improvement has focussed on reducing air emissions, treatment of waste water effluents exiting our buildings to tighter specifications and reduction of hazardous waste generated from our operations. To reduce landfill we also reclaim heavy and precious metals from scrap product, recycle paper and cardboard and also separate glass and metal from garbage.
Sound Design is also committed to comply with global environmental initiatives and has introduced "lead-free" and "Green" product versions for its markets. . Our strategy has been to introduce Pb-free, Green packages that are fully compatible with our customer's existing assembly processes as well as Pb-free assembly processes, thereby allowing our customers to transition to Pb-free assembly according to their own requirements.
